NCSCA Professional Recognition Awards
The North Carolina School Counselor Association would like to recognize the outstanding and exemplary work of dedicated professionals who work as school counselors, administrators, counselor educators and advocates of the school counseling profession. The NCSCA Board also recognizes outstanding individuals via the The Ruth McSwain award. Each year at the annual conference, awards will be given to those nominees who best exhibit the implementation of the ASCA National model and show evidence of a comprehensive school counseling program, which involves stakeholders within the school, community and the profession. The awards ceremony is held during the opening plenary session of each year’s annual conference. This year’s conference is scheduled for November 4-6, 2010 at the Joseph S. Koury Convention Center, Greensboro, North Carolina. In order to submit a nomination, review the criteria for each award. The following items should be submitted with the nomination form:
The entire submission should not exceed more than 16 pages not including the nomination form and should be neatly organized in binders. All evidences should be within the last five years. All nominees must be current members of the North Carolina School Counselor Association. Counselors working at multi-level schools, ex. K-8, should choose which level they would like to be considered for in the awards process, i.e. elementary or middle. Submissions from counselors at Early College High Schools should select the secondary school counselor level.
NOTE: NCSCA is not required to grant an award if there are fewer than three (3) nominees in any category. All applications must be complete. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
The nomination deadline is September 30, 2010. Recipients and nominators will be informed by October 10, 2010 in order to allow ample time for them to ensure that the awards recipient is present at the annual conference.
