Committees

NCSCA leadership works in many areas for school counselors. There are several standing committees that support our mission.


Government Relations- Committee members work to advocate for items on the legislative agenda, plan events to advocate, and work with lobbyist. Awards- Committee members work to promote the awards nominations and choose awards recipients. Contact Vanessa Barnes at vanessabarnes@greene.k12.nc.us
 

Professional Development- Committee members gather data to plan for professional development opportunities, promote and evaluate mini grants and scholarships, coordinate the DataLEADers program, and coordinate ASCA National Model Training. Contact Dr. Renee Evans here.

Conference- Committee members promote, plan and oversee conference details including registration, sessions, program booklets, onsite events, speakers, learning institutes, and special events.

Nominations and Elections- Committee members recruit nominees for the election process, oversee election process, and ensure fair and honest outcomes. Contact Marrius Pettiford at Marrius_Pettiford@abss.k12.nc.
 

Public Relations/Magazine- Committee members promote NCSCA as well as the role of the school counselor via campaigns, merchandise and literature. Members also assist with securing article submissions for the quarterly magazine. Contact Andrea Burston at aburston@wcpss.net.
