NCSCA Legislative Day
Thursday, June 12, 2014 in Raleigh, NC

The North Carolina School Counselor Association works to provide a voice for the concerns of school counselors across the state. This is your opportunity to assist with that process!

At this event, we promote issues that are of concern to school counselors and the students we serve. Your visits with legislators will also be an opportunity to educate our state senators and representatives about the wide range of responsibilities that school counselors have.

NCSCA members are especially needed this year to ask legislators to protect funding for school counseling positions and to explain the importance of retaining the “Duties of School Counselors” law passed in 2013.  Since this is another crucial year to advocate for school counseling, NCSCA will waive the typical registration fee for this year’s Legislative Day.

Do you need a place to stay?

We have reserved a block of rooms for out-of-town counselors at the Clarion Hotel (320 Hillsborough St. in downtown Raleigh), which is also the location of our opening session. The rooms are reserved for the evening of June 11, 2014 only.

We will be subsidizing the cost of the rooms as long as we receive your registration by Monday, May 5.  The cost is $60 for a single room and $30 if you room with another school counselor who also pays $30. We will make the hotel reservations for you, provided that you complete the hotel information section on the registration form and pay your portion of the fee.  Once your reservation is made, please note that we will be unable to reimburse hotel costs if you do not attend Legislative Day.

After May 5, you may still register for Legislative Day 2014, but will need to make your own hotel arrangements. A list of area hotels will be provided upon request.

If you do not need a hotel, the online registration deadline is Wednesday, June 4, 2014. There will be limited on-site registration.
